GETTING READY FOR THE SYMPOSIUMOnce your students have registered for the symposium, Show Guides will be sent to the school. Each student will be given a copy which lists the exhibitors, speakers, times and room numbers. You are encouraged to spend a considerable amount of time assisting students in planning and mapping out the presentations which they will attend. Students will also be able to walk around the third floor, meeting exhibitors from industries, government agencies, and educational institutions. Again, students should have a good understanding of the variety of exhibitors and speakers, prior to coming to the Symposium. Since a lunch area has been set aside for students at the Convention Centre, there is no need for students to leave the premises. Teachers and counsellors should be available and to assist their students. It is suggested that students should meet their teachers at regular intervals to ensure that all students are receiving the maximum benefit from the sessions and visits to the booths. Students should be well prepared when asking questions to speakers and to exhibitors. Subject area teachers should request a written assignment from each student. A follow-up class at school would assist the teachers in evaluating the effectiveness of the Symposium. See our suggested timeline >>
